Fresh Designs at Milk NYFW
An exciting collection of new designers was featured tonight at Milk Studios for NYFW, bringing a variety of color in not just the clothing, but the crowd as well. The emphasis on tone and character was flirty and fun, but the sea of chic chignons and pretty boys was even more entertaining. This was by far the most relaxed event this season; complimentary Peroni was a clever way to calm nerves and let loose after running around the city chasing the latest skirts and skivvies for Fall.
Calla was fresh and the palette was sweet - blocks of pastels were painted across the eyes of young models, inspiring a longing for tea and macaroons in a warm garden very far away from the blizzard outside. Jonathan Simkhai brought a little more New York ferocity with simple, strong pieces and a boldly sexy deep crimson lip. Ostwald Helgason was one of my favorites, with his ingenious combination of rich textures and a sporty vibe. Grandiose golds woven into Asian-inspired patterns paired with detailed muted blue blazers made my mouth water, while loose pony’s pulled into “oh so cool” laid back ball caps took the total look to casually cool luxury. Jonathan Simpkhai told the story of the ultimate cool kid, with the kind of street style we all die for. I’m convinced his oversized bookworm glasses and bright yellow skinnies could change my life.

hanzkittyFor me, the natural appearance really depends on what the model is wearing. For some pieces it worked, for others... not so much. For me, anyways.Feb 13, 2013from the photo: Fresh Designs at Milk NYFW
